From 5th June to 27th September, at the CAEE in Escaldes-Engordany
Egypt: the step to eternity
The CAEE presents an exhibition on ancient Egypt, from the Egyptian Museum of Barcelon-Clos Archaeological Foundation. It includes sarcophagi, funeral masks, amulets, statues of Egyptian gods... a collection of objects, works of art and books related to the funeral rituals of ancient Egypt.
The exhibition is organized into various areas, like the myth of Osiris and the cult of the dead, to present the culture of ancient Egypt, a civilization that loved life so much that it wanted to live forever.
For thousands of years, generation after generation, the Egyptians skimped on no resources to guarantee eternity: tombs, myths, rituals, mummies, funeral dowries... bear testimony to their hope in an existence that desired to be prolonged forever.
The exhibition is completed by the photography display, Tutankhamon, images of a treasure under the Egyptian desert, a graphic description of the discovery of Tutankhamon’s tomb by the archaeologist Howard Carter, in 1922.
Free entry. Guided visits and teaching workshops for schoolchildren.
