The country

The Principality of Andorra does not belong to the EU. There are two border crossings, one with France (Pas de la Casa) and one with Spain (Farga de Moles). Both are open 24/7.

Entering the country

Visitors are required to produce the following documentation:

Citizens of EU member countries:

  • Adults: passport or national identity document
  • Minors: - accompanied by parents: National identity document + family record book/passport - unaccompanied: National identity document + permission to travel, issued by police/passport

Citizens of other countries:

The same documents required for entry to France or Spain: passport/passport + visa (1) (1) NB: those requiring a Schengen visa must ensure that it is multi-entry

Customs allowances

Agricultural products

Coffee: 1,000 g of coffee or 400 g of extracts

Tea: 200 g of tea or 80 g of extracts

Alcoholic drinks (*): 1.5 l of spirits of more than 22º, or 3 l of spirits and liqueurs of less than 22º or sparkling wines, or 5 l of wine

Tobacco (*): 300 cigarrettes or 150 cigars (of less than 3 g each) or 75 cigars (of more than 3 g each) or 400 g of pipe tobacco.

Other agricultural products: Up to a value of 300 euros (for those aged under 15, up to a value of 150 euros), no more than:

  • 2.5 kg of powdered milk
  • 3 kg of condensed milk
  • 6 kg of fresh milk
  • 1 kg of butter
  • 4 kg of cheese
  • 5 kg of sugar and sweets
  • 5 kg of meat

Industrial products: Perfumes:

  • 75 g of perfume or 375 ml of eau de cologne

Other industrial products:

  • Up to a value of 900 euros/person (adults)
  • Up to a value of 450 euros/person (under-15s)

Clarifications:

Maximum quantities and amounts per person. (*) There is no limit on the following products for those aged under 17. Visitors returning to European Union Countries may take with them, at no further cost, the quantities of goods bought in Andorra shown in the table on this page.

All products exceeding the stated limits must be declared. Duty-free allowances cannot be pooled between visitors or distributed between agricultural or industrial products.

Alcohol, tobacco, coffee, tea, perfumes and eau de cologne are limited by quantity, irrespective of their value. However, other products such as milk, butter, cheese, sugar and sweets are limited by value.

Products within the stated limits do not need to be declared, provided that they are for personal consumption. The quantities permitted may vary according to the age of the visitor.

Finally, enquire at any Customs Office about special limits and restrictions which may apply, particularly to animal or vegetable products, live animals, endangered species, medicines, weapons and ammunition, art and collectors’ pieces, currency or means of payment.)
