The iron route

The iron route invites the visitor to see some of the resources concerned with the processes of extracting, working and marketing iron. These sites of interest distributed through the territory, allow to discover one of the most important economic activities developed in Andorra from the beginning of the 18th century to the end of the 19th. Mines, charcoal sites, the mining and iron habitat and forges are just a few examples of sites along this itinerary.

Starting from the Rossell Forge one can go on to discover other places related to the world of iron; the llorts mine, the carriers’ way with an itinerary of sculptures paying tribute to these Iron Men, the Museum casa Areny Plandolit- home of one of the most important forge owners- and products that were made in the Andorran ironworks, such as those we see in the church of Sant Martí in La Cortinada.
